This Homemade Bang Bang Sauce recipe could really be called Crack-Crack Sauce. Creamy, slightly sweet, with a gentle heat, this sauce is addictive in the extreme! It is perfect to dip, drizzle, or dunk!

Bang bang sauce gets it’s distinctly delicious flavor profile from the creaminess of mayonnaise mixed with chili garlic sauce and sriracha. The layers of complimentary sweet and creamy, garlic and chili flavors are a little unexpected and part of what makes this unique sauce so craveable.

And did I mention this sauce whips up in LESS then 5 minutes? It’s ridiculously easy.

Some versions of this recipe use the premade condiment called sweet chili sauce as an ingredient. I do not. Only three easy ingredients replace that bottled sauce and frankly, mine tastes better! And who doesn’t want I know exactly what’s in their recipe???

This sauce originally became famous at the Bonefish Grill. They take succulent, flash fried shrimp and toss it with the sauce as an appetizer. I love it even more over this healthier, GRILLED BANG BANG SHRIMP or OVEN ROASTED SHRIMP SKEWERS.

An extremely close second favorite is drizzled over roasted or Grilled Bang Bang Cauliflower…talk about how to get your kids to eat their veggies!!! I’ve got two picky boys who asked for seconds…on cauliflower! Um, yes please!

Crack Crack, I mean Bang Bang Sauce is also a pretty magical as a salad dressing, as a veggie platter dip, with fried or grilled fish, chicken, and honestly, so much more.

How make Homemade Bang Bang Sauce

ingredients for bang bang sauce

Whisk together the following seven ingredients:

  • Mayonnaise
  • rice vinegar
  • honey
  • sugar
  • water
  • chili garlic sauce
  • Sriracha

This recipe makes about a cup of sauce and the leftovers can be kept in the refrigerator in a sealed container for a week to use as you like.

Where do I find the Asian ingredients?

Rice Vinegar, Chili Garlic Sauce, and Sriracha are all common in ethnic cooking and are located in the Asian section of most grocery stores including Walmart. They can also be found on Amazon.
