Guinness Beer Bread

Guinness Beer Bread is crusty on the outside with a slightly sweet, moist and malty interior. So delicious served warm with a smear of butter!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 14 oz can Guinness Stout see recipe notes for 11.2 oz bottle
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Spray loaf or small cookie sheet with no stick spray.
  • Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and brown sugar together in a large bowl.
  • Add the Guinness and eggs.
  • Stir just until combined.
  • Batter will be lumpy.
  • Place batter in pan.
  • Let batter rest for 10 minutes.
  • Bake for 50-70 minutes depending on pan size until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool for at least 10 minutes.
  • Slice and serve warm with butter.

Notes

For a 11.2 oz bottle of Guinness, reduce flour to 3.5 cups, but all other directions and ingredients remain the same.
